Antsy

21 Jul

I was soo tired when I woke up this morning.  I didn’t feel like making oats so I settled for oats in cereal form.

Cinnamon Quaker Oatmeal Squares, mmmm.

I taught swim lessons this morning and I was a little antsy the whole time.  Hmm, I wonder why?  Probably because I was going to the hospital with my Mom after to go see Carter!  Of course I had to take more pictures.

Look at him stylin' already

He loves to sleep! Just like his Aunt!

My tan lines are horrible, I know. The curse of being a lifeguard!

My mom kept trying to steal him from me!

Whit survived her first night of being a mom, yayy!

After leaving the hospital it was lunch time.  I had some leftover mac and cheese in the fridge so I decided to just heat it back up.

I also cut up a mango and ate it on the side.

Kind of a weird combo, but it was good!

He’s Here!!

You can officially call me Aunt Erin now!!  My little sister Whitney had her baby today and he is literally the cutest baby that I have ever seen. Okay maybe I’m a little biased, but he is pretty frickin’ cute!  Here are some pictures of the little guy’s birthday!

Absolutely beautiful baby!

What a long but exciting day!!  I’m exhausted but now I need to get ready to go teach swim lessons 😦  Hope you guys enjoy the pics! How can you not though, you have to love baby pictures!

Quickie

20 Jul

Before I left for the hospital with the fam I ate a quick breakfast.

Whole wheat waffle with Dark Chocolate PB and sliced strawberries on top.  I also packed a banana to eat on the road.  I’ll keep you all updated on the baby status 🙂

Jinxed!

20 Jul

So I guess my post from last night jinxed me, it really is baby time!  We’re on our way to the hospital now.  I’ll be sure to post pics later!!

Baby time?

20 Jul

So I’m really tired and this post is going to be pretty short as a result of my tiredness.  Also, I have a feeling that I’m going to get woken up in a couple of hours because my sister is going to go into labor (yes, my sister is very pregnant and is already 3 days past her due date).  So here was the menu for today:

Lunch:

sandwich thin, sunflower seed butter, and dried blueberries

strawberry greek yogurt

I also ate a pear but that went without being photographed.

Snack-age:

pretzel sticks

blueburries

juicy watermelon

Then I came home and ate way too many slices of cheese pizza.  Now I need to sleep and hopefully I won’t be woken up anytime soon 🙂 (I mean I need my beauty sleep ya know!)

Food for Thought:

Does anyone else have a family member/sibling expecting a baby soon too?  Isn’t it exciting!!

Mixin’ things up…sort of

19 Jul

I wasn’t very excited to get out of bed this morning.  I usually don’t have to work on Mondays, but today i do 😦  I switched days with another girl at work because she was going on vacation.  I looked up the weather for today though and it’s suppose to storm so that makes working a little better 🙂 (working at the pool + storm =no one at the pool)  It’s probably horrible that lifeguards secretly pray for storms everyday but hey, that’s just the way it is.

Breakfast today had a little twist.  I had the usual overnight oats (1/3 cup oats 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk, cinnamon, raisins, flax seeds).  I mixed up the topping a little bit though.  You all know I love nut butter in my oats.  It’s just not the same without it.  Well, I was at Target yesterday and I was very excited when I found this little jar of heaven.

I seriously bought it for the sole purpose of mixing it in with my oats.  I don’t think I would like it on a sandwich or anything but for oats, it’s perfect.

Topped with the Dark Choc PB and my Nana's strawberry jelly

I mixed this baby right up and devoured it.  The PB had just the right amount of chocolate flavor.  I also ate a banana on the side 🙂  Now I need to hurry up and get ready for swim lessons and work , ugh.

Food for Thought:

Do you ever get excited when you find some type of new food item?

Hiatus

18 Jul

So sorry about my little hiatus these past couple of days.  I’ve just been so busy with work and swim lessons that by the time I get home I literally don’t want to do anything.  Blogger fail.  But don’t worry, I’m back 🙂  Here are some pictures of the food that I have eaten (some food went un-photographed of course though).  Yes, I took pictures of the food and just couldn’t get my lazy butt to post them.

yummy blueberries and watermelon

leftover pasta

Whole wheat waffle, scrammbled eggs with laughing cow cheese and ketchup, mmm!

big ol' salad

prunes dipped in sunflower seed butter

the classic, overnight oats

I went to DC to visit my BF (as usual) and of course I had to bake him something to bring with me.  His friends from PA (Caitlin and Tim) were coming to visit so I figured it would be nice to bring something.  I decided to make brownies with a big mountain of white choc/milk choc chips on top.

the finished product

I had some leftover batter so I decided to make these.

My family gobbled these up right away!Well sorry about being MIA but I promise I will get back to blogging on time tomorrow 🙂

Sam’ich

14 Jul

So this mornings breakfast turned into something I didn’t plan on.  Yesterday my mom bought some of these waffles at the grocery.

I thought I would switch out my usual overnight oats to try out these waffles.  I didn’t plan on making a PB&J sam’ich [that’s how I usually say the word sandwich, I don’t know why I still say it that way (prob because it’s more fun) but that’s just the way I’ve said it since I was little].

I took a bite out of one of the waffles before I smooshed them together, I couldn’t resist.  I always love a good PB&J 🙂

Couch Potato

13 Jul

So I feel like I literally didn’t do anything all day.  After swim lessons I went straight upstairs to my room and watch the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” episode from last night.  So much drama!!  But that’s what makes good TV, right?  Afterwards, I continued to fill my day with watching reality TV shows: “The Real World New Orleans” and old episodes of “The Hills”.  My BF makes fun of me because I love to watch such pointless shows but I really can’t help it, I’m addicted.

For lunch, I was obviously too lazy to really make anything.  I resorted to my old fav, cereal.  My bowl consisted of a mix between Multi-grain Cheerios and Nature’s Path Organic Pumpkin Flax Plus Granola.  I also sliced up a banana and mixed it in.

Cereal never disappoints me.  This also kept me full for a really long time.

About 3 hours later, hunger started rolling around again and I ate a mixture of mango chunks and blueberries.

I was in charge of making dinner tonight and I was inspired by a KERF dinner.  The original meal was by Ashley.  It looked so good that I just had to make it.

It was: whole wheat penne, frozen bell pepper strips, spinach, 2 bottles of pasta sauce, and mozzarella cheese melted on top.

On the side I steamed some green beans and I made some garlic bread (which I ended up burning).

Still edible, right?

My plate:

This meal was def a crowd pleaser, yay me!!

Swim lessons got cancelled tonight (it’s storming!) so I’m going back to watching “The Hills”!

Food For Thought:

Do you have any TV shows that are your guilty pleasure?

Gloomy Morning

13 Jul

I woke up this morning and it was cloudy and gross outside.  This didn’t help motivate me to get out of bed…at all.  I decided to sleep in a little and I would just go running after teaching this morning.  Definitely a better plan.  When I finally got up I went downstairs and ate a banana and pulled out some overnight oats.

1/4 cup oats (since I added granola too)

1/3 cup vanilla soy milk

cinnamon

splash of vanilla

flax seeds

raisins

Topped with TJ’s Sunflower Seed Butter, the new Michigan Red Tart Cherry preserves and oatmeal raisin granola from TJMaxx.

The cherry preserves was perfect!  It has chunks of real cherries in it and I love that.

Off to the pool, hopefully I actually go running after I’m done :/

Food for Thought:

Does the weather ever change your mood to workout?
